BELIEVE IN YOUR P.O.W.E.R.

Enrichment Workshop

Every Spring we invite 100 girls in the Baltimore area to attend our annual Believe In Your P.O.W.E.R workshop. During this event, we bring in dynamic women to share their passion and purpose in hands-on workshops with participants. The workshops are designed to help them explore and nurture their own passions as well as allow them to see all of the endless possibilities that await them. This is a full day filled with power and purpose!

Free to Be Me - 10-month Group Mentoring and Leadership Development Program

Group Mentoring

Our 10-month mentoring and leadership development program focuses on creating a safe space for girls to learn, grow and be their authentic selves without judgment.  Each of our participants' journeys begins with creating a healthy mindset and then growing their skills and experiences and nurturing their unique talents. Our bi-weekly group sessions consist of enrichment activities and discussions centered around topics such as: Goal Setting & Leadership, Self-Esteem & Confidence, Mental Health & Wellness, Gratitude & Giving Back and Healthy Relationships.

1:1 Mentoring

Our 1 on 1 mentoring provides our mentors and participants with an opportunity to build on the skills and experience gained during our bi-weekly sessions. Our mentors serve as part of the girls support system designed to help them navigate some of their day to day challenges and allows us to better meet each girl's individual needs and develop more meaningful mentor/mentee relationships.

Healthy Harvest Heroes

Community Garden

We are focused on making a sustainable impact in the lives of our mentees and the communities we serve. Our Healthy Harvest Heroes program provides an opportunity for our stars to help develop and sustain a community garden. The goal is to help bridge the gap of food disparity throughout our communities while providing the girls with new skills and opportunities to connect with the community. This project both fills a gap in the community by providing access to fresh produce and encourages healthy eating habits. Gardening also provides a non-traditional way to enhance our youth’s STEM education through practical, reality-based learning. Over the next few years, we intend to grow, harvest, and distribute fresh food to the families in our organization and the residents in our communities.Believe in Your P.O.W.E.R.

Soaring for Success

College Readiness & Career Development Workshop Series

Our college readiness program provides 4 to 8 week workshops to 7th through 12th grade students to help support them with post secondary and college preparation (i.e. options for post secondary education and training, choosing the right school, impact of GPA and use by colleges, SAT preparation, essay writing, etc.) as well as career development (i.e. resume writing, interview skills, etc.). Our goal is to empower our girls and their families to be prepared and educated about their options after they graduate from high school and move on to the next

Our Community Impact

Our stars are required to take part in community service initiatives throughout the year to give them a greater understanding of what it means to be of service to their community.

50 MEALS FOR 50 FAMILIES

During the month of November, we host 50 Meals for 50 Families. We reach out to 10 local schools to identify families that would benefit from a holiday meal. With the financial assistance of our donors and sponsors, we purchase holiday meal items and then our program participants along with their families and other volunteers come together to help sort and pack 50 holiday meal boxes. With a spirit of gratitude, the boxes are then delivered back to the school for distribution to families.

Cozy Dreamer’s Hip-Hop Whoville

IBIM Girls hosts an annual book and pajama drive to promote literacy by making it a fun and cozy adventure. The pajamas and books collected are donated to a local Pre-K and Kindergarten class in Baltimore. During a scheduled literacy night our Bright Stars coordinate and facilitate reading circles and fun activities while distributing the books and pajamas collected during our donation drive.

SWAG SWAP

In an effort to encourage a spirit of giving as well as support conservation and environmentally conscious behavior, we collect gently used clothing to distribute to families during our annual back to school event.

BACK TO SCHOOL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY

Every student deserves to have the proper tools to aid in a successful school year. IBIM Girls hosts a Back-to-School Block Party before the start of each the new school year.  During this event, backpacks are filled with supplies and donated to students in the community.
